Straight white marks on matte paint (on roof)

What are these marks that are showing after I just washing my car? I always hand wash about once a week. You can see how linear they are. I used matte paint detailer and they didn’t come off. They go away when wet, but then reappear. What is this?

There is a similar mark on the side of the car that I can’t get rid of either, it’s two short marks.

That makes sense. Anyone else tried a way to remove the marks that was/was not successful. Is Goo-gone safe?
I’ve used 90% rubbing alcohol and it didn’t hurt paint. Gets certain stubborn sap off and stuff. Lucky on the roof it’s rather unseen

I just came here wanting to understand:

1) What it is?
2) Does anyone else have this issue?
3) What should be done to fix it?
4) Hoping to hear I could correct it myself.
5) Otherwise wanted to know what the dealer would do to fix it.

I also was hoping to avoid the dealer because I've had them screw things up before (like put a gash in my steering wheel when they were fixing something else) - not to mention sometimes for these types of issues they won't work on it on the weekends, which means I have to take off of work to bring the car in.

I still don't understand how this just now appeared after 2 months and like at least 6 hand washes. It's perfectly smooth, not tacky at all. I think I'm going to hand wash this spot again and see what happens. If it is still there I guess I'll have to take it in.
Hey, one thing to note about the Kia matte paint, I have washed my Kia twice with regular soap at the hand car wash and it is perfect. It’s really not as sensitive as people think. Just don’t use wax, drive thru or push hard when drying. Also you really don’t need to wash it that often. Chemical Guys has some sealant for this paint and it is great. Use that with your full wash afterwards. Then for maintenance, you can just wipe the car down with a damp or dry towel once a week. It will look like you washed it and you don’t have to fight water spots. Way easier maintenance.

The matte finish looks great initially but it costs more to maintain and keep looking good in the long run. Costly to repair if you don't or get into any type of body work.

Scratches, swirls, and marks stand out more and are harder to get out.

Getting paint warranty is difficult for matte, KIA would have to send the vehicle out since they don't have the expertise via most dealers.

The warranty is only 1 year for Any Paint application defect and matte has proven to be more problematic longer term on vehicles.

We where considering matte because of looks but without a longer term record from KIA on this material and applications we decided not to.

And you actually trust perfect strangers on an Internet forum like this to "assure" you?...
You will not listen to any suggestion so why do you keep going on about it.

I've had great results with WD-40 removing road tar without any harm to factory paint, but after a good washing, you'll want to wax the area to protect the paint, especially if birds like to use your car for target practice. Goof-Off is particularly good for adhesive. Try some with a soft cloth, not paper towel, in a small area and see how it does? The dull paint/coatings/wraps will always be a challenge to maintain and keep from going shiny.
