Could it be some type of tape residue, which would explain the liner lines.

It is some type of tape residue. I believe it is from the plastic paint protection sheets from shipping. I have it on a couple of spots on mine as well. Mine is so faint it is hard to see. I need to see if some WD-40 will remove it.
That makes sense. Anyone else tried a way to remove the marks that was/was not successful. Is Goo-gone safe?We had similar marks/tape residue on my son's new SX Prestige. We used some "Goo-gone" and immediately rewashed that area and haven't had a reappearance of the residue.
Well, the issue is if I try to remove the marks but cause more damage, I can’t just take it to the dealer to correct it. However, now, it’s obvious those marks are from the dealer/origin tape and should be covered under warranty. Obviously I can wing it and try stuff, but then the dealer will say too bad you’re the one who decided to fix it yourself. So, if I’m going to try anything I’d like some assurance it’ll work first.Maybe the glue residue dried out due to all your washing? Who knows. Goo Gone it and report back. We're all sure you can figure it out on your own.
Safe for matte surfaces too?Goo Gone is safe for painted surfaces. I wouldn't let it linger any longer than needed however, so we quickly rewashed that area so we'd be able to add a first layer of ceramic.
Right, but using the wrong things can leave it shiny. So just asking. It's original paint, not an added film...
And you actually trust perfect strangers on an Internet forum like this to "assure" you?...So, if I’m going to try anything I’d like some assurance it’ll work first.
I'm just looking for solutions man.And you actually trust perfect strangers on an Internet forum like this to "assure" you?...
Why not take it to the dealership and let them figure this out? lol
Then you'll have the solution and the warranty will be safe
@SoCal949 - if you want more info on what to use on matte paint to remove things like this residue and bugs/tar, just search it. Tons of detailers with advice online. That is where I saw WD-40 and Goo Gone recommended as safe on matte paint. If you don't want to risk it, sure, let the dealer deal with it.
I just came here wanting to understand:I also use normal rubbing alcohol to remove tree sap on paint, so I would think it would work in this application also. I agree with @Koreanadian, take it to the dealer first and have them deal with it since Kia caused the problem.
