I was given an old Sportage by a friend leaving the country at the start of the year, its fairly rough and needs some bits doing but after a few off-road test with friends I'm suitably impressed and have decided its worth spending a few Dirhams on! One of the thing it definitely need is new springs on the front and back (nose dives when braking and wallows around corners) but parts hear in Dubai seam to be hard to find for the little Kia. the genuine spring are on back order with no date as to when they will be available and upgraded springs seam to be harder to find than unicorns!!!
So does anyone know if springs of any other SUV will fit the little old Kia, i don't mind a little bit of modification to make them fit if it means a little more stability when off-roading or any suggestions on where to buy decent upgraded springs online???

open to ideas
thanks in advance.

How many miles? Since it has struts f & r most likely those are worn out.
Do you have a good suspension shop or front end shop or tire store in the area?
If yes, try there for replacement struts. Once out of the vehicle the springs can be assessed by the master mechanic.
Not saying your springs are not the issue, but your description sounds like struts.....Have the other suspension components inspected and replaced at the same time.
Good luck, let us know what happens!

Hi Lou, unfortunately good mechanic's are a rare her in Dubai most are very low paid expats that speak very little or no English, generally the solutions they come up with are changing parts randomly until the problem is fixed. I have also now discovered that even main dealer won't help with genuine parts as it's not a GCC spec vehicle

Edit. Forgot to say it's done 180,000kms

Yes Moog front and rear springs in the US are 110 USD shipping is 280 USD, i don't mind paying shipping but that's a joke and then i will get hit with import tax on the total amount🤦‍♂️

If you are wanting to lift the sporty Jeep Wrangler TJ rear springs can be utilised for the rear. From memory standard Jeep springs would lift the Sporty approx 2 inches. I run Jeep Wrangler 2 door hardtop Dobinson rear springs with a 35 mmlift which gave e me 4 inchesof lift

Contact Up Your Kia in America he should be able to provide you with front strut spacers to lift your Sporty 2 inches in the front.

Use RAV 4 old man emu shocks for the rear to suit the extra height. You will need new bushes for the bottom as they are a different diameter.
cheapest way out to lift your sporty.

like others said replace your front struts at the same time

4x4 wire have a very detailed sticky on lifting the Sportage. hope That helps.

cheers Chris

Funny u should say that I read through the 4x4 wire info last night, just picked up a set of wrangler soft top springs for the back and ordered new rav4 shocks for the rear and managed to order new genuine shocks for the front, can't find anything on replacement shocks for the front, but I have all the parts required to make the front lift spaces. Really would like to replace the front spring while I've got it all apart

Just checked the models on the jeep springs, turns out they are not original.
Teraflex 1854100 according to the website they are the uprated with a 2,5 inch lift for the jeep. This may not work out quite as planned, good job they were cheap:unsure:

Just finished the new shocks front 45mm spacers and the jeep springs, fronts where a nightmare to get back together with the spacers in, the springs for the back were definitely to much, somewhere between 7 and 8 inches of lift, I ended up cutting a coil and a half off the top of them still a little higher than the front but definitely better although they are too stiff, will have to look for some of the standard ones when I get a chance
