Ok...in theory: if I cut the door speaker wire at the harness in footwear, and run it to an amp/ LOC, will the factory stereo volume still work? Thanks for looking and any help.

the factory stereo will then control the amplifier volume, yes.
were you going to amplify the door speakers? or just getting signal to add a subwoofer?

I'm hooking up an amp to doors and woofers...gotta find the diagram for the footwell
