Hi, i have a 2012 Kia Sorento. The last 2 days there has been a very loud, very intermitent metal sound coming from around the drivers front wheel. It almost sounds like cans being dragged along the road. Sometimes at 10mph, sometimes at 40mph. Stays for about 5 seconds or less. Brakes and rotors look clean and have lots of life left in them. We went up a logging road at the weekend. Could something have got into the bearings? But wouldn't the scraping noise be all the time if it was? HELP please! Any feedback hugely appreciated.

the bearings (as in the hub) should be a sealed unit. if there is any noise coming from it it will be getting worse and worse through time, lasting longer and longer. i would get the hub inspected if you are truly worried.

I drive on dirt roads often and i do sometimes get stones, or mud in there and it does make noise. Is the inside of the rim clean? or do you have some mud buildup. it could be falling off while driving and getting into the brakes until it gets worked out.

Take it to the quarter car wash. Use the high pressure wand on rinse and wash out each wheel. Also focus spray on and around each brake caliper. Let us know if this helps!
