Currently, i'm using the normal factory produced set of absorbers. The make of my car is of year 2002. So it already high time for me to change to a new one. Does monroe, Koni have the ideal fit for my vehicle. If not, what are the alternatives and if the estimated cost for a set of absorbers is provided, it will be most helpful. As i have my own personal mechanic, i do not need the price for installation. Lastly, im driving a KIA Spectra 2002, (Sedan)

Konis is thee reference standard but expensive as well. HotBits is about the best compromise and have a lower as well as upper bracket. Titan is another alternative to the upper bracket HotBits while HWL is the best buy and cheaper than HotBits. All these easily available in Malaysia.

I am not sure myself of this.. cause i have also been searching for alternative shock absorbers for my Spectra 02.. But if you go to this webpage "autopartswarehouse.com" and search for shock absorbers for Spectra 02, they show up some KYB's @ $87.

Now comes the interesting part, if you lookup on that same webpage for shock absorbers for Kia Sephia 2000, the search result is the same exact SKU shock absorbers!!. If you compare the SKU from the KYB's for Sephia and for the Spectra, theyre the same (on that webpage that is).

So, everywhere else, if you lookup for sephia 2000 shock absorbers, they even have Monroe Sensatrack models for the Sephia 2000, which are probably compatible with Spectra 02, looking as the KYB's are compatible, or so that webpage says...

Here's the links for the sephia and spectra shocks list:
Sephia:

Spectra:
Auto Parts and Accessories Catalog - 2002 Kia Spectra

Good luck and let us know of your findings if you decide to try them!

Ok. so i decided to try something by myself.

I went to Pepboys and bought MONROE struts for my car (Kia Spectra 2nd gen, 2002)
By catalogs, Neither KYB, Monroe or Gabriel make struts for this model, however if ask for Sephia 2000 struts... they do have those, and for less than half of what original Kia struts cost ($75~).

I decided to buy the Sephia shock absorbers, and try them on my Spectra. To my surprise (actually it wasnt really a surprise), the front Sephia 2000 shock absorbers fitted perfectly on my Spectra. The rear shock absorbers for Sephia only have a one difference from the Spectra ones, Sephia ones have the cylinder that is bolted onto the shock abrosber mount is a tiny little bit wider, so using a drill bit you can enlarge the hole a bit... just a tiny bit not much!!, you dont want it to be loose. After enlarging the whole voila! you can install them as original shocks.. and they work perfectly.

Heres the Monroe part numbers for those who want to try this:
Right Rear: Part 71422

Right Front: Part 71420

Left Front: Part 71421

hope you find this info useful!
