Has this happened to anyone else and why would it be doing this?

While driving in this morning I noticed the top light on the pb for for drivers side seat heater was blinking. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it just to see if it would reset, but it didn't. Any ideas what would cause this? I know it must be some kind of error code, but I can't find any reference to it online or in the owners manual.

Thanks,

very interesting, no idea, as i've not seen it happen on mine

it could simply be a faulty LED?

perhaps some sort of warning? or indicator?

it's not in the manual AFAIK

this is a guess, but i am betting you have an open circuit. either a wire got snipped or something is unplugged. raise the seat all the way up and have a look around under the seat for a loose wire, a wire harness unplugged, or a cut wire.

I'm having the same problem with mine as well. I have a 2012 Sorrento V6 with heated seats. The heated seats stopped working over a month ago and I got the blinking LED light as well. I brought it to the dealership and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it as well. They had to e-mail Kia National (Canada) to find out what was wrong. Its been four weeks since bringing my truck in...

I just started seeing this on my 2012 Kia Sorento as well. The driver's side heated seat button just blinks consistently. Was wondering if anyone found the solution to this yet? I plan on stopping in to Kia soon to check.

I had this problem on 2013 Sorento with the light flashing.
I took it into the dealer and they found a short
in the heating element. It took 3 weeks for them to order
the replacement parts from kia and since then everything is good.

I just bought a 2012 Sorento and had the same problem driving home tonight. Do you know what part(s) your dealer had to order? I'd love to see if I can replace the part myself.

Thanks.

If it's the heater element failing (short or open), then the entire seat will need to be disassembled. When I had a heater fail in my Jetta seat, the dealership just replaced the seat.

Just wanted to update my post.

I brought the car into the dealership. It WAS a short in the heating element. As I bought the vehicle less than a month ago, they replaced the element for no charge.

The service manager acknowledged that these elements do wear out, "not too often...but it isn't uncommon." My vehicle has 65,000miles on it.

Hope this information proves helpful to the next person trying to diagnose tis problem.

So...I finally took it into the dealer and it was a short in the heating element. Here's the part to search for on Google "kia 88190-1u030 heater". Average price is around $120. Hope this helps!

Can anyone please explain what is required to replace the seat heater element? Any instructions or diagrams would be excellent. Thanks!

Same issue here...the bottom 2 lights were on, but the top one would keep blinking and of course, it didn't heat the seat. I did get it to work temporarially by turning on the car and remaining in park, then I turned on the passenger seat heater then after 10 seconds I turned on the drivers side one. Then after another 10 seconds, I started driving and it worked. But it only works half the time. I also checked the fuse in the panel under and left of steering wheel, but it wasn't blown. So, off to the dealership I go!

Update: I called the dealer and asked if they had the heating element in stock and asked to hold it for me in case it is the part I needed. They said ok, but hurry to the service dept. I went and yes, it was the heating element that needed to be replaced. It took about 2 hours as they had to take apart the seat. It was covered under warranty and I only have 12k miles. Karp Kia in Rockville Center, NY has a great sales and service dept. I can't recommend the enough.

I had this issue start last year. I took my car in to have remote start installed, and when I took it home from the dealership, the driver's side heated seat wouldn't work. They came and got my car and looked at it, called me and said that the heating element had shorted out and needed replaced, and since my car had 62,000 miles on it (2,000 over the warranty that covers this issue), it would cost me nearly $300 to have fixed. I'm still without a heated driver's seat. They said it was just coincidence that it worked when I dropped it off, but not on the way home after the remote start was installed, so they wouldn't replace it/fix it for me without me paying hundreds of dollars.
