Any tips on changing the valve cover gasket? Does the manifold have to be removed?
should I use a sealer on the entire mounting surface?
Any tips is much appreciated.

Front is easy. You can do it anytime.

Back one is a pain, you have to take off the intake manifold. It just takes a lot of tedious stuff to get off to get it off.
Otherwise, it's okay. It can take 2 days due to tediousness.

DO NOT over tighten the valve cover bolts. They can strip very easy.

You do want to do it if high mileage, the back one can get harden and leak to below exhaust and make fumes come up and also loose oil as well.

Since you are taking off the plenum, might as well change the intake manifold gasket (if you want) also spark plug wires.
