Rear Windshield Washer Tank?

745 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  rhartmaier
In the 2016 Sorento LX with V6 is there a rear washer tank to add fluid to
or just the one under the hood in the front. Seems I'm going through about
a gallon a month using both front and rear washer/wipers. I've checked and
no leaking that I can see.

Thanks in advance!

Just the one under the hood feeds both, unless I have one for the rear that has been secretly defying physics! But it does sound like a lot of use, have you looked directly at the tank/pump/etc? I think we've seen a couple of leaks here.

Yea and no signs of any leakage. It has been a snow/slush/sleet winter so far.
I go through a lot too. I think it's because it's a big tank and a good amount comes out on both sides. I can find myself filling up a gallon and still not be enough. Probably depends on how long you pull/push and release the wiper on the stalk. The back one comes streaming out pretty good. I put in de-icer around November before the freeze so the fluid and the line that carries it can keep on fuctioning.

Update (May 2023) while mechanic had car on lift for brake work he noticed a cracked
plastic piece on the washer fluid pump. He replaced it and now a much stronger fluid stream
and more importantly no leaking.

Good catch! I only use about a gallon a year, but then my car is parked for two months during the winter when my wife and I escape to warmer climes.
