It's the rear suspension bump stops. They all break off. In fact, broken rear springs are common too.

Allowing the rear shocks to wear out is the biggest cause of this. Installing new aftermarket shocks with larger bores help to prevent the rear suspension from bottoming out.

Most guys, including yours truly, don't bother to install new bump stops as long as heavier shocks are installed and in good working order.
