My 2019 Sorento V6 has been making a rattle can noise on acceleration, usually after stops especially under load like an incline
  • 205,000km and it’s been happening since about 140,000km
  • it doesn’t happen when idle or in gear and press the gas. Idle sounds great
  • just changed trans fluid again and went to Valvoline synthetic like people rec on here and it shifts better with a smoother change of gears but rattle is still there.

so I’ve thought it was transmission but have also read a tensioner pulley I think it was? Or maybe knock sensor??

I dunno. Any help with this???

The P0523 indicates a problem with cable or connection on the pressure side of the sensor.
The original P0198 indicates a problem on the same sensor on the temperature side.

Unless the entire new sensor is shot, what's common to both sides of the sensor are the power and ground. What's interesting is that you have no issues (yet) reported that would be related to your MAP sensor which makes use of the same 5V and ground supplies from the ECM.

You need to be measuring for voltage across pins 2 and 3 (gray and orange) to see if you're getting 5V to the connector both when connected and disconnected from the sensor. Fully inspect the connection between that and the combo oil pressure/temp sensor carefully while you're there.

Update to error code.
Decided to replace the wire harness from new oil sensor back (about a foot or so).
When the new one was attached it clicked in much easier than the original before. Either way all codes and oil light are gone
Thanks for the help

I agree with the other comments already made about sensors etc. I would however also recommend running some good fuel system and carbon cleaner in more concentrated amounts, as well as just giving it a good throttle body clean and MAF sensor clean etc. It's not a bad preventative maintenance thing to do regardless and might just address some issues you've notice in recent miles.

Update on the rattle…
I got the seafoam spray in the intake. Had wife stay in gas and I held the nozzle down. Left it to soak after and then went in my drive. Had some initial hiccups on acelleration but it went away. I noticed there was better acelleratiin and fuel economy and what I thought was less of a rattle than before.
I was at NAPA and saw the two can seafoam and thought maybe I’ll add the other to the tank as well. So I got it and did the proper ratio. I’ve got to the tank being empty and after adding to gas I didn’t hear the rattle at all yesterday.
here’s hoping it continues

I do yearly intake aerosol seafoam in my sorento using the PCV hose for valve, piston and cat cleaning, and based on distance driven i put 1/4 to 1/2 a can every few months for injector cleaning. The amount i put in is based also on my fuel tank percentage, or if I'm putting some in when filling up.

i use the PCV as it's easier than disconnecting before the throttle body and it still cleans the valves, pistons and the catalytic converter.
