Has anyone ever rebuilt the steering gear. Mine has some play in it that makes you constantly have to move the steering wheel to keep it straight. I've adjusted the play in the gear but I believe the circulating balls inside the gear maybe worn out. I've rebuilt GM gear boxes years ago and don't know if there is a rebuild kit available.

Steve,
I have the same problem. Mine likes to wander around in the lane, so it takes a lot of steering input to keep it going in the right direction.
A mechanic friend told me it was the gear box and a rebuild kit should fix the problem.
I bought an Edelmann 9174 Steering Gear Major Seal "rebuild" Kit on Amazon last month.
This is my first post, so I can't paste the link. It currently is selling for $46, which is $20 more than I paid less than a month ago.
I haven't used it yet, so I can't say if it will fix the problem.
I'm going to try to take care of it this week, so I'll post an update after I get it done.

Does it come with new balls that ride on the worm gear? That's why usually wear out in a steering gear.
