Use a descriptive meaningful thread title.

When posting seeking help with for example a misfire with an error code, post in the appropriate model specific section, and use a descriptive thread title.

Very often posts are found with little or no response and the title is "2012 Rio EX" - that is meaningless and does not draw the attention of the seasoned knowledgeable members who volunteer their assistance here.

Many times old timers here will somewhat aggressively advise folks to search the forum before creating a new thread knowing that there's existing threads on the same topic.

I find most forum's search functions are atrocious, so suggest that you put the forum address and your key words in www.google.com

A BIG AMEN about site search functions! google is a much better "friend" and will lead links back to this (or other) forums and ON TOPIC!

When seeking advice and assistance diagnosing a problem, state clearly the symptoms and what you have already looked at and what you've found.

So many times the expert members here offer a suggestion, only for the OP to respond back that he's already checked that.

Very often the expert members will pass by that type of post considering it not worth their time and effort.

If you're like me, a slow two finger typing person, here's a suggestion, ...no need to write "Kia" in your thread titles - we all expect that its a "Kia Sportage"

Check the last date of a last post, and the hover over the ID to see when last a member visited the site, and then decide whether is worthwhile resurrecting an old thread.
