I have just discovered that the vacuum pipe was not connected to my EGR valve, this had not affected the tick over and the normal running seemed Ok. But since refitting the vacuum pipe the performance is much better. My fuel consumption has always been poor average 23 mpg. Can I now expect to see an improvement?

Hi Chemo

I'm not much up on mechanics, didn't think vacuum pipes etc had anything to do with modern electronic controls and direct injection diesels but hey 23 mpg on a 2.5 diesel isn't good so if this (whatever it is !!) doesn't fix it I'd be getting the dealer to have a look see at it, either that or buy some lighter shoes !!! LOL

Cheers

Derek

PS: I'm getting over 30 mpg out of my 2005 5 speed auto.
