I have 2005 kia optima that has excessive water leaking from the drain in the firewall after running heat. shut car off in driveway and noticed water on driveway after about 5 minutes. What could be the cause of this?

Like your home air conditioner water condenses on the coils...and either drips off the window unit or if it's a home AC unit down the drain in the basement.

Your car AC does the same. Georgia is known for it's humidity and if you have the AC on along with the heat this may be your problem. The AC on many cars is turned on by default to remove moisture (fog) on windows and you must manually select to turn it off.

If the "water" smells it could also be antifreeze leaking from the heater core. Check the level of coolant and see if it is low.
