I have a 2001 manual sportage 4x4. Recently the parking brake light stays on sometimes but what I've seen the most is that when I brake for a stop it comes on and when I accelerate away it turns off. I've checked the switch on the parking brake and it is working fine. I'm really at a dead end with it. Any ideas? And does anyone know where to get a wiring diagram? Thanks.

Check the fluid level in the master cylinder. Might be low.

Park brake light ?

UPYOURKIA is correct, check brake fluid level, for the fluid takes the displacement of worn brake pads but dont top it up just yet for when you change the pads the fluid will come out the breather hole on the top of the master cylinder and container and cover the engine and inner wings which will take the paint off,
First look around underneath for fluid leaks, if everything is ok, just put a small amount of brake fluid in the container to turn the light off

Ok thanks guys, I'll try checking out the lines and adding a little fluid tomorrow. I'll reply back with what I find.
