So I've posted here about the low oil/burning oil issue. I've changed out the pcv valve to see if that helps, but now i have a new issue

When I get home, I will wait for about an hour or so to go check the oil to see how things are going. I pull the dipstick out and it reads as full, almost too full, mind you this is after an hour sitting.

I clean it, put it back in and pull it out and nada....dry as a bone.

The dipstick need to be wiped each time. If not the engine operating will have oil splashed on it. Hence its not a level check at all. You don't need to wait much more than 5 minutes. That would mean you're very vey low and at the level damage is occurring!! Add oil and once you get a reading above the add take it to Kia as it maybe part of the warranty action. Use the specified grade of oil and type specified. Grade is on the fill cap and I expect should be full synthetic as per the owners manual. DO NOT go to the dealer with it below the add!!!! They'll dismiss the warranty as abuse by the owner, you. Don't over fill it either fyi.

I don't know why you all assume the OP is stupid and doesn't know how to check his oil. I think he just finds it ironic that it shows full before wiping and that after, it's dry as a bone. AND he says that he checks his oil level often to "see how things are going". Yes he could have said a little more, but oh well.

Are you getting an oil light? Usually, that will light up when you are severely low and are losing oil pressure. If you don't have a light yet, you probably haven't done any damage, but you had better fill it up asap. It still seems you have a low oil/burning issue and the pcv didn't fix it.

I have 3 vehicles so sometimes the Sorento sits days w/o usage. If I pull the dipstick w/o running if for days it reads over full. IMO any splashed oil on the stick should have run off after 3 days. If I wipe the stick and re-check it's right on full. Removing the stick a reinserting it apparently clears it. I stopped trying to guess the cause and just live with it as every pull after the first is consistent.

It may surprise a few here that many are under the impression that the oil light on their dashboard alerts them to a low oil level.

I think many people don't know that. BUT there are instances where your level gets so low it stops getting sucked up and causes loss of pressure. So the light can indicate low oil level, but that could be one of many reasons.
