Dear Forum Members,

I'm having an HVAC issue with my 2008 Kia Optima EX. Some time this summer, I noticed that the temperature control knob no longer moderated the temperature of air coming out of the ducts. Even with the temperature control turned all the way to "HI", the air coming from the ducts was ice cold, the same as it was with the temp control turned to "LO".

I thought it might be a heater core issue, so I checked the coolant level and found it was just a bit low. After running the car to normal operating temperature, I checked both heater core hoses and found them to be warm. No change to the issue inside the cabin.

I've looked into the part that I suspect is the problem and got more confused. A blend door? Door actuator? Temp door? Now it looks as if there are two temp door motors. A temperature probe. Oh my.

Winter is coming. Anybody know how to fix this?

I had the same problem with my controls, but mine were auto temp controls.

Turned out to be a blend door actuator.
