Hi there.

I have a 2011 Rio5. For the last while I have had 0 reception on the AM Band.

I checked behind the radio in the dash and found the Antenna wire connecting to the radio is still snug. I've changed the Antenna mast on the roof and doing so only improved FM reception.

I haven't got any reception what so ever from the AM band, just static.

I haven't tried a different radio or changed the Antenna base. I'm not to keen to take my headliner off.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Well I'm closer to the ultimate problem. i found in the passenger side pillar after removing a plastic cover. There is a connector about half way up to the roof. The connection was solid, but when I pulled it apart my AM started working again. When I put it back in it quit working.

I don't know if there is a bad connection somewhere else up the line or if the antenna base itself is no good.

I can leave it unplugged but I'd like a permanent fix. I'll take the Headliner off another weekend.
