Hi, as you can see this is my first post here. I'm a long time car guy and right now hooked on VWs but my aunt drives a 2003 kia rio 1.6 5 speed.

It is down on compression severely and right now the only two engines i can find locally are a 1.5 out of a 2001 kia rio or an "alpha 2 1.6" out of a 2006 kia rio.

I am not concerned about the slight power differences between the motors just curious how much difference there are between them and what is currently in the car. And how "plug and play" either swap would be.

Thanks for any information you can help me with.

After doing some reading i found that the alpha 2 is a COP setup which means the harness is different for sure. So i guess realy my question is how much difference is therere between a B5 1.5 DOHC and a B6 1.6 DOHC

Hello. The A5 and A6 engines are identical except for the .1 difference in displacement (and the valve sizes are also different). It would be a direct swap. You could even re-use your A5 ECU if you wanted (it has quite a learning curve built in to it).

As fas as different engines go, all custom.
