Recently drove 250 miles to purchase a 2021 Sportage SX AWD. The return trip was uneventful as it should be and I really like the Sportage for what it is. Dealer only had one key (wish I knew that before finalizing numbers). Can I buy a key fob off ebay and program it myself and just have a locksmith cut the key blank? I really don't want to get one from a dealer. I doubt Kia would be as expensive but I had to get a key fob from a volvo dealership and it was $400.

If I can't program it myself, what is the cheapest way to get a second fob for my new to me Sportage?

You can buy a key FOB -- I purchased one from South Korea because it was a lot cheaper. I went to the dealer I purchased the car from, and they programmed the key when I got an oil change from them for free. I did go to a locksmith to have the key cut, however, and because it was not a normal key like your house key, it did cost a lot more.
