hi all, new to the forum and new owner of a 2005 kia rio (manual transmission). Took it for a ride yesterday, and am pleased with the car so far except one odd occurance. Whenever you would start the car, the car goes extremely slow in 1st gear. we used to drive a mazda protege for a few years and had gotten used to that car. we don't know if it has to do with us not getting used to the clutch itself and when to apply gas, or if it has anything to do with sensors or lines. any ideas?? thanks :)

What does RPMs does the tach show in first gear...High RPMs and slow speed could mean the clutch is slipping.. You need to clarify by "extremely slow"...Do you mean the engine gets up to 4~5000 RPMs and the car doesn't move or do you mean you cant get the engine to go over say 3000 RPMs...or are you limited to say 30 MPH before you have to shift to second?
We need more info also....What's the mileage on the odometer? Do you know any of the history of the car and what has been replaced?
