Car: 2013 Kia Forte Ex Sedan
Location: Utah County
Travel: About 44 miles driven daily 5 times a week to work and back, mainly on freeway. Most other driving times usually are for just a few miles or so. Also occasionally drive further, like 20 miles or just 10 miles, sometimes but rarely 50+ miles or higher for a rare road trip.
Tires: P195/65R15 89T (They also say M+S NEXEN RADIAL TUBELESS CLASSE PREMIERE CP662 if this helps)

So I am not too knowledgeable about cars and at my most recent service they said my tire tread on all four tires was getting to basically the last of its tread and that I was going to need a new set of tires soon. They also said my brake pads were wearing thin, especially the back ones and they'll need to be replace by next inspection.

I've been looking at tires today but I know nothing of the sort when it comes to brands and such. I am completely clueless as I have never bought tires before (or brake pads). So I thought I'd ask some questions, get some recommendations and advice. The more I know the better.

There are tires that are as low as 50 dollars per tire and then there are tires that are up to and even over 100 dollars each. What are the differences? Do you get more bang for your buck with more expensive tires? Would they last over twice as long? How do they justify prices? And what sort of cost range for tires do you recommend shopping for? Also what kind of brands do you recommend? There are just so many brands like goodyear, dunlop, michelin, bridgestone and like a hundred more. And then there are types of tires like super sport and whatever else there is... I just have no idea what I am looking for. I just want good quality, long lasting and great priced tires. But with so much variety, I have no idea what to even start with. I also need to get them installed too.

As for brake pads, are they generic? If not, any recommendations would be appreciated! And can I get them installed with the tires or do I put them on myself? Or is there some specialty place that has to do it?

I hope I gave enough information! Sorry for all the questions... Thank you so much for the help, suggestions and advice for this clueless person.

Hello open doors and welcome to the Kia forums.
You should be checking your own tyres not leaving it to Salesmen in garages.
Disc pads are reasonably easy to check when you remove your wheels.
You can see post on the site for tyre wear and or just go straight to sponsors site Discount tire for information.
You can also find in your Handbook in the maintenance section.
I take it you have just had your third service done the "Next inspection" is due in 12 months and garage will be after the work.
Now will be time to start learning of different tyre qualities to suit you and your area.
The international tyre brands under European law have to give Qualities MPG, Wet handling, Dry handling and Noise all done at the same Standards.
Speed ratings should not be ignored , a good indicator of quality.

I suggest to just using OEM parts for your brakes, it could surely handle your daily route and activities. For the tires, I got great result with Nitto tires Motivo. Not that expensive, but very impressive grip and tire tread.

Tires are an area where you usually get what you pay for. The more expensive tires are usually better (though there is a limit to what you need). Different types of tires can be more expensive as well. There is warranty which is usually based on how long they'll last (though there are some good tires without a warranty). There is performance, more performance oriented tires will wear faster (and have a shorter/no warranty), but they will be more expensive. Speed ratings also make a difference. Of course, many of these things effect price, and some will do different, even contradictory things (tires made for longevity are harder, tires made for grip or ride are softer and don't last as long, which are "better"). Some things you pay for you may not need (do you really need truck tires with stiffer side walls for towing on a small car, of course not, but that adds to the price). So, to try to find the right combo you need/want and the sweet spot on features (and thus, price) will take some research.

There are a number of sites out there that will explain everything so you can make your own decision what you need. Short of that (most of us don't have the time, and few are as curious as I am about nearly everything and so most people's eyes will likely start to glaze over), there are a few guidelines. In that case, I'd go with a decent set of all-season (don't need to change them in the winter) touring tires. Though, a reasonably priced pair of performance tires will be fine as well, you don't need a sports car for performance tires. As for speed and load ratings, look for what your vehicle had on it from the factory (i.e. 106T, or 104V, or ...) and go with those or better and you'll be fine.

For brands, as a whole Michelin are usually the best, I'm also a big fan of most Yokohama models (nearly to the same quality as Michelin, lower price). Goodyear and Firestone (and to a lesser extent, Continental) are household names, the brands are usually decent to good, but not always the best and you can pay for the name. Some of the Korean brands are good mid-quality tires at a lower price: look for Hankook and Kumho (they are often OEM on Kias and Hyundais).

Like nearly everything else, you can find consumer reviews online for tires, and I believe Consumer Reports does tire reviews.

For brake pads, if you aren't a gearhead who wants to upgrade, you are probably best off going with OEM (what the manufacturer uses). Shop around for price, the dealer may be the best deal, but anywhere that services cars probably does brakes and some will be making deals.

I'd suggest taking a look at General G-Max AS-05, they are very good tires and are very reasonably priced.
This tire has silica in its compound which helps a lot with wet traction, they are quiet, great grip and should last and wear well.
I got those for wife's Forte and we are very happy with them.

As far as brake pads, I used Wagner and Bosch on both Kias and can recommend Bosch while Wagner are ok.
You may need to change rotors too at the same time depending on overall mileage on car and rotors condition.
Don't just put new pads in if rotors are in bad or questionable state or you'll end up with squeaks and ruining new pads too.

I have a 2002 Kia it's my father vehicle there tires puncture 2 or 3 times in this month I use Roadside Assistance Services to reach the car garage I take the decision to change the tire kindly suggest me a better tire of my vehicle
