My Fav 2024 Kia Sorento Quirks

Got 12k on my wife's 18-month-old 2024 Sorento. No real issues, but it does have some quirks. Here is my top few. NOTE: This is my wife's ride and my ride is a 2019 Corvette. But when I do drive it......

1) HORN - Works when it wants to. The fix is to turn off the car and turn it back on. Never used the horn for the first 17 months until my wife told me it was not working.

2) Doors - Walk up to my SUV and the mirrors swing out and the driver's door does NOT unlock. The only way to get into the suv is with the keyfob. Push on the door button does nothing. Seems to do this when the SUV is cold.

3) 8 Speed tranny - does not happen often, but on a slight incline, you can feel the transmission slipping. Dealer found no problems, but said others have reported the same issue.

4) Drive by wire accelerator - SLOW/delayed reponse from a stop. Even with the start/stop option disabled. Seems to respond better in sport mode. Dealer said that was normal.

5) Navigation - Kia stopped providing updates earlier this year. When using the navigation in a split screen, you can get it to display in daytime mode.

My wife is fine with all these quirks. As with most of these issues, if you can't get it to fail at the dealership, your SOL.

I concur with some of the issues.

One time my horn was sounding only single note. Tried 5-6 times to make sure, and it was consistent. About 20 minutes later during the same drive, it was back to sounding dual notes and has been normal ever since.

There's a 2-3 second delay before the door unlock button works when I walk up to it at normal walking pace. No delay if I approach the car slowly.

The transmission stutters when accelerating slowly between 10-20MPH in cold mornings. Also, indecisive when you floor it for quick passing maneuvers.

Nice thing about the factory navigation is you can see the music info at the bottom when in full screen mode, unlike Android Auto. Otherwise, not that great.

Nice to know its not just me......

My door unlock thing is wierd... ONLY happens when @ home. I'm guessing a cold SUV may be a difference.

On the NAV... Kia said earlier this year they were moving to Google maps for the nav system. That might be why they have stopped updating it. My wife likes the kia nav, just fine. I always use WAZE. Google says they are going to update it so that I can split the screen with local radio and XM. Well see..

OH YEAH.. one more. Tire pressure is set @ 35 in the tires per the door sticker. I checked my tires last week and 2 of them were @ 30 psi. You would think I would have seen a dash alert for 5 pounds under the setting. Nope... Nada... Nothing.

Thanks for the replys!!!!
