Manual Liftgate

I have a 2019 Sorento. I am unable to open the trunk tailgate/liftgate/trunk. There is no response when I press the release button on the outside of the trunk. The only way to open it is to crawl inside and use the emergency release lever - which is impossible to do when the trunk is packed full. I have had the vehicle to the dealer three times - they replaced the mechanism, the fuse box, and then some reset button. It still does not work. Anyone else ever experienced this or have any solutions?

Your state has a Lemon Law. Take it back to the dealer and inform them that the 4th visit constitutes the car as a lemon if they don't fix it right.

Sounds like they are having a real fun time just shotgunning it rather than troubleshooting it. Replaced the fuse box???
Electrical troubleshooting is an exercise in 'divide and conquer'. You find out whether there's power heading back to the 'motor' that drives the latching mechanism. No? Look upstream. Yes? Look downstream. Divide again on whichever side you find at fault. It isn't rocket science.
Might recommend a dealer with a decent electrical/electronics tech in house. Doesn't sound like yours has one that even knows how to use a meter. Just be sure it's done on Kia's dime (assuming you have some of your 60K bumper-to-bumper left).

I agree - and it's possible the replacement part they got was faulty, so they might need to start over. At first, I didn't let it bother me, but now we have had a weekend camping trip, a week at the beach, and numerous grocery shopping trips WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE TRUNK! Can't keep doing this! I might ask where the next closest dealership is and see if it is worth a visit. Thank you.
