With the Warn manual locking hubs, is it ok to run in 2wd with the hubs locked? For example, when the streets are snowy, often times I will drive to the expressway in snow (I want 4x4) then get on the dry expressway (I want 2x4), then when I get to the local area, snow again (4x4).

Does the driving on the expressway with the manual hubs locked but the car in 2x4 hurt anything?

Thanks.

No, it won't hurt anything. Except you will see a decrease in fuel mileage because you are turning all the front axles and diff.

But watch out for one thing. Make sure the slip joint is greased on the front driveshaft. There is a grease fitting on the coupling. If it isn't greased the driveshaft will rust solid. This will prevent flexing in the front drive assembly and blow the front pinion seal on the diff housing.

Don't ask me how I know this.
