Hi, guys, I have 2011 Kia rio5. Just got my starter replaced, and then 2 weeks later, this malfunction light is on. So frustrated with this Kia. Any idea what went wrong?

My condolences!

Then you will have to get yourself a LIVE DATA SCANNER.. or rely on a local mechanic ($$$)

If you have a tablet or cell phone, buy an OBDII dongle (BT/WiFi, $5-15).. apple only comms with WiFi.. Android would be better.

a copy of "Torque Lite" (free), or Torque Pro ($5.00)

There's a good chance you'll be throwing money down the toilet if you buy a new battery. The mechanic should have evaluated the battery and determined that it was ok, before he installed the alt. Call and ask him what he found when the battery was tested in his shop. Your vehicle could have a parasitic drain, a short, or perhaps a mistake was made with the install of the alt.

Also, can you post exactly what the symptoms were before the alt was replaced. Battery light on and/or something else?
