Funny to notice that for a same car with a same engine, you need a service every 6 000 km in Canada and every 12 000 km in US. Just the double.

Kia says it is because of harsh canadian winter but hey, Vermont and Maine have the same winter as ours !

You know what : my 2011 Sorento SX V6 AWD needed a service every 8 000 km ! I do not like when new models do worth than old ones...

Morover, US market gets a 10 years/160 000 km warranty and only a 5 years/100 000 km in Canada.

Like Moodib said in one of his post : jalours for several reasons of the US market !

The U.S. 10 year 100,000 mile warranty is ONLY on the powertrain. Canada gets the same, expressed as 160,000 KM.
Both have the same basic 5 year warranty or 60,000 miles/100,000 km's.
If you look at U.S. site, you see the 10 year reference but when click on it, see the detail- breaks down the 10 and 5.

Canadian manual also says 12,000 km as long as not meeting the harsh conditions listed.
I suspect the same wording exists in the U.S. manual.

Suggestion I got from dealer was 8,000 km or 4 months. Perhaps winter a little milder here than Quebec City. From experience with past cars, dealers always assumed all cars were driven in harsh conditions; but when I read the listed conditions, not necessarily.

unless they changed it for 2014 (haven't seen the 2014 Canadian warranty manual, just the US), the power train warranty in Canada is 5 years or 100,000 km not 160,000 km.

8,000 km or 4 months was the old set up recommendation prior to the 2012 models, I know I had that on my '08 Rondo, but not on my 2012 Soul. If you read the severe section of your manual and see if you fall into that situation, it all depends are where you are located. I find that I'm severe in the winter and not the rest of the time, so I just make it simple and go in for a service once every six months.

here the warranty summary for Canada for the 2013 models

and here is the warranty summary for the US for 2014 models

Just checked the 2014 warranty card; which I should have done first rather than rely on memory. It is unchanged from the the 2013 Canadian card shown in this thread. So oops, i was wrong re duration of power train in Canada. U.S. is longer as long as are original owner. Interesting.

Kia dealers in Quebec have a 6 000 km maintenance program since 2012 (was 8 000 km for 2011 Sorento).
