<_< I just put a used engine in my 2002 Kia Rio. Everything is fine except the speedo doesn't work. The sensor on the bell housing is installed and plugged in. I am assuming that is the speedo sensor. Unless it is the flywheel positioning sensor. Am I missing something obvious? I hope someone can help me. Thanks for your time, effort, and knowledge. I am just an old bodyman and the r&r is easy but the trouble shooting has got me by the shorties. LOL

Thanks again, Tom

The sensor on the front of the transmission is the crankshaft position sensor. There is a sensor on the back of the transmission that is the vehicle speed sensor. If you remove the air duct, you can reach the connector for it. It's on the passenger side of the transmission on the top.

 Ok, success!!! It was so simple I am now officially imbarassed. It was simply unplugged. Again thanks for your help!!!

Now I have a check engine light on. Is there a simple way to clear this or am I on my way to a dealer?
