Ok, so my 51 plate sedona 2.9TDI that I have had starting problems with for a while now, finally died at tesco car park, had it recovered and taken to a garage and they have said the injectors are stuffed. They seem reluctant to do the job as they believe it could run up a bill more than the car is worth.

Any suggestions on getting this done on the cheap?

Nope. I had to buy 1 injector when a valve decided it had had enough and caused some major damage to the engine. The cheapest I could find at the time was from a dealer near Newcastle I believe, it was still £170 though. You could try ebay for salvaged ones but the quality is unknown so could be a false economy. The only other option is to remove them and try a specialist to see if they can be reconditioned. I think the one in my car are made by Delphi.

They either fall out or are right bugger to get out. I had an old spare one which I took to a local nut and bolt shop and asked if he had a nut to fit the thread on the injector. I welded he nut to a mates slide hammer and spent 20 minutes on 3 of them and a day and a bit on the other one. Dont try to unscrew them anti clock wise as the injector is in 2 parts and will unscrew and leave the bottom part stuck in the hole. I'll have a look at the weekend and see if I can find the other nut as I did buy 2 of them.
