My new Kia Sportage 2024 PHEV won't go into EV mode. I already had my 12 day old KS at the dealership for three weeks due to internal temperature failure. That was fixed but now it won't go into EV mode if I manually put it in EV mode. When I start out driving it stays in EV mode, but when I push the Mode select button to keep it in EV mode it automatically goes into Hybrid mode and stays there. I have been to the dealer once but was told this is normal behavior. According to the manual I should be able to put it into EV mode and it will stay there until it gets low on battery and/or I accelerate quickly or go up a steep hill, then hybrid may kick in. I am sure I should be able to keep it in EV mode. What am I missing? I was told by service manager I should have bought an EV only if I wanted to drive in EV mode. I also realize I only can drive about 35 miles in EV, but this goes into Hybrid immediately when putting it into EV mode. Help!
