Hi I experienced weak braking in my Sorento.
I applied heavy foot pressure on the brake pedal for no lockup at all.
It was slow to stop and felt dangerous.
I could not find out why on inspection.
Brake fluid, Pads and discs looked ok.
I started buying parts but was worried about the master cylinder and vacuum assist?

I took it to a Brake specialist they replaced the fluid, skimmed the discs and replaced the pads.
But the main issue they said was the ABS system was off.
They corrected the issue and it stops on a Dime. (bloody quick).
Why No switch for ABS or traction control, and no warning light?
works well now.

You do have an ABS warning light, yours is not working. Sounds like you just got the Sorento? If so, the ABS light might have been on for years? Could be burnt out? Sounds like the brakes are fine now. Good, enjoy your Sorento.

Check pad depth, rotor width, flush out old brake fluid.

The problem has been fixed, Don't know how you missed that, not a long read...

Interesting (about the ABS) because my 2008MY has just had a safety recall to install some new wiring/relay in the ABS circuit. It seems it was ON all the time, even with the ignition off. (Safety Issue was 'Fire Risk').

So, if earlier models also had 'always on' then it would be likely for something to fail over time. (Or Kia got cheap and removed the 'safety feature' on my model!!)

Fix included a new ground cable to the battery from main fuse box and complete new fuse box cover to accommodate extra wires as well as new wiring from main fuse box to engine relays box.
