It's been some time since I updated this thread with comparison sales figures. As many of you may already know the Rondo is now discontinued in the US, but not in Canada as obviously shows up in the US sales figures:
April - Rondo: 685 (1538), Mazda 5: n/a (1758
May - Rondo: 374 (1530), Mazda 5: 1424 (1197)
June - Rondo: 196 (891), Mazda 5: 1059 (1209)
July - Rondo: 174 (557), Mazda 5: 1944 (1315)
April - Rondo: 597 (1024), Mazda 5: 708 (959)
May - Rondo: 755 (1149), Mazda 5: 1248 (1030)
June - Rondo: 645 (930), Mazda 5: 681 (964)
July - Rondo: 947 (979), Mazda 5: 730 (1017)
and one can clearly notice that Mazda5 is filling up the market since Rondo is not available.
I wonder why KIA did that. It simply does not make sense to me.
Did US customers complain more than CAN about the car?
We test drove both vehicles and we started off with the mazda5 at the top of the shopping list. After driving two 5's, and experiencing the booming resonance in my ears at speeds above 40mph, it was struck off the shopping list altogether. I don't know if this has been addressed with the latest model, but if not, consumer report's 95% rating seems ridiculous.
