I have just picked up my Kia Optima fully loaded and I love it .I traded in a Llincoln MKZ and I noticed that, different to the Lincoln the headlight auto switch has tro be turned off or the parking and rear lights stay on. Am I doing something wrong or is that how they work? Is that a Canada thing? The manual is not much help.

The Auto feature turns the lights on and off during a 'night' situation. The parking and rear lights should not stay off if the car is turned off and Auto is turned on.

Do you mean when driving they are on while the switch is turned to On?

You may want to check to see if you have the escort/welcome feature turned on. This will leave the headlights on after you exit the car to light your way. You can check it through the settings menu on your dashboard and you navigate via the "trip" and "reset" buttons.

I believe it's at the bottom of the windshield/dash (the raised portion) but i would suggest logging into the KGIS system for detailed info or a copy of the manual that came with your car.

With the light switch left in auto, after parking the optima and getting out of the vehicle along with the key, the lights will turn off automatically after 30 seconds locking the doors or not.

That's with the escort setting "ON" with the escort setting to "OFF" it will turn off after getting out of the car and closing the driver's door.
