Hi All,

Just taken delivery of a new Kia Niro and didn't realise until after the transporter had driven away that only one of my keys worked.

The local dealer is a fair distance away and have said they'll need my car for a full day to setup my spare key.
This sounds a bit crazy tbh, and I'm wondering if anyone on the forum is aware of any keyfob programming process that I could do myself instead, or is that no longer a thing with modern cars.

Interesting point of note, the immobiliser transponder is working fine, as I can insert the key and start the car, it's just the remote unlock/lock not working, even after swapping out battery.

Just trying to save myself a day's annual leave :)

Cheers,

Jonny

I also just purchased a Niro. Although I don't have the same problem as you, my issue is along the same line. The owners manual on page 4-11 says the following ---"The key code number is stamped on the bar code tag attached to the key set. Should you lose your keys, this number will enable an authorized Kia dealer to duplicate the keys easily." I wasn't given this bar code with the new car and the salesman says he knows nothing about it and didn't seem interested in helping me find it. If you had been given this bar code, it sounds like your life would be much easier at this point.

Good luck
