I would like to find out the exact size of the drain plug for a 2005 Carnival LS petrol 2.5 L V6 engine. It has been over tightened by a Kia Dealer at Eagers Kedron Brisbane in reposnse to the drain plug leaking after they did an oil change. Charming.

Does the drain plug also need a washer? If so what type? I plan to use a single hex socket to take this plug off. Once I find out the correct size which I think it is 19mm and I will use the single hex socket to remove it once I confirm the size. :)

I can't tell you for sure, because I am not familiar with your exact engine. However, on every Kia I have ever seen, they use a 17mm plug fitted with a CRUSH WASHER to control leakage. There are some people on here that know the 2.5L engine very well, hopefully one of those will weigh in.
