On my wife's 2012 sportage I ordered a $12ish replacement housing for the fob, opened up her fob while watching a youtube video, switched the circuit board/key to the new fob, replaced the battery, snapped it back together and everything worked. It did not have a security chip either glued in or otherwise. Only a circuit board and battery inside the fob. Fairly straight forward.
