how do you test a sorento EX limited/slip differental to see if it is working ?

as having been a ford mechanic i used to check ford "equalock" limited slip rears by putting one rear wheel on the ground, the trans in nutral and tried to turn the other rear wheel, if it turned with no resistance the clutch pack in the rear was worn out

my sorento failed this test, but i realy do not know how to do a statiic test on a limited/slip rear in a sorento

does anyone know? it does not seem to have the same traction in soft sand as it orignaly had

Good question. I just checked the service manual and Kia doesn't list any way to check the differential without removing it.

A good ol'fashioned power brake should tell you if it's working or not. It's worked on the last few Chevy's I've owned, and they seem to work off of the same principles.
