I have a 2002 Spectra and I want to go to stage 3 with it. I just ordered one of these http://m.ebay.com/itm/130897011852?nav=SEARCH

:)

The guy said it can put out 10-20 pounds of boost which would be a huge gain. I have some questions though.

1. How hard is it to install? Do I just wire it up to a switch on the shifter knob or can I wire it so it comes on when I floor the gas peddle?

2. How much boost can my engine handle? Can I run this on my engine stock or do I need to get the copper head gasket? Is 10 lb of boost too much?

3. Should I get a blow off valve to
protect the pressures? I figure that would make it easier for it to tune it and that way I can start lower. Plus the blowoff sound is badass.

4. In the other forum they told me I would have to reprogram the ecm to flow more fuel. I was thinking maybe just drill a hole in the intake and put in an extra injector there that turns on when I hit the turbo, rather then pay some ripoff shop.

Thanks

Please dont do any of these things without finding some real info.

If you think it was just as easy as bolting something on and drilling a new injector hole into your intake...think to yourself, "wouldn't everyone be doing it then?".

Its nice to see someone interested in performance but to save yourself time and alot of money. Start off simple and easy. The idea of adding an injector into your intake with it conrolled by some button off the turbo or something... you need to learn alot before you start trying these things. Or just blow your stuff up and wonder why.

Hi there, the best, easiest and safest way to increase power from your engine is to get it re-mapped, (not chipped with a little black box, this will damage your air mass meter)

I have had my 2007 turbo diesel Sorento Titan re-mapped from 168bhp up to 200bhp and also the torque increased from 380Nm up to 470Nm, the torque increase also gives me an extra 5 miles per gallon.

I now have a 2 ton rocket ship with better fuel economy, a win win situation,

Kind Regards, Bill, in a very windy and wet England.

Please do not tear your car up. You cannot turn the turbo off or on, it is working all the time. Yes you need a blowoff valve to keep from blowing your motor up. Turboing your motor is not that easy or cheap either. A lot of the kits are generic and may not necessarily work on your engine, which means some fabrication. You cannot just add an extra injector either. Most guys that boost their cars go with bigger injectors and a different fuel rail. This also means a different engine management system, which can get pretty darn complicated if you have no experience with high performance engines. You would need some dyno time and an experienced tuner to get it to run correctly. This could require some deep pockets. Having said all this, if you still feel you are up to it, by all means, full speed ahead.

Ok ill put my 2cents in on this one.. Ok first an electric supercharger is gonna need a ton of electricity to spool up to around 5bls let alone 10-20.. And like all these other guys said its not just a plug in bolt on thing.. I boosted my kia spent about 5gs on turbo, piping, intercooler, radiator mods, full plug and play ecm with piggy back, 440cc injectors about 10-15 hrs of dyno time, after all said and done it was awsome but i pushed it a little to far... squeezed 11bls in it and blew #3 piston out the oil pan... So if you want one headache after another and have a spare car by all means you can try it if you have time and money to burn....

If u do something do it right...
Get all the turbo components...
Im not very deep into tuning but i do know..

First you need to know your compression ratio..
Get the wastegate and turbo timer.. I have a rio 2015 and I found the Garrett Gt2554r suitable for the 1.4 L engines..
Blow off valve is also needed..

take care of ur car too cuz if u blow something it will be costly..
fuel rails and injectors should be changed too.. but its better to remap if u cant do it all...
