how long does it take for the rings to seat on this thing?
i have read that it is about 500 miles before the rings are good but that was for a civic. also there is no smoke out the exhaust. should it be burning some oil?

any help is great

Opinions vary, but I was taught between 200-500 miles for the rings to seat in..

Not burning oil is a very good sign - sounds like the rings are seating ok. :)

I'd agree with the previous post. Was it a reconditioned engine?

New cars that I have monitored carefully have used about 250ml of oil in the first 1000 km, and maybe another 500ml oil up to the first service at 10,000km. At this rate, you will not see any smoke in the exhaust. Various of our cars over the last 10 years (KIA, Mazda, Nissan) have used no oil after the first service.

I did have an older Affa Romeo that regularly burned 1 litre of oil every 1000 km. This is what I consider the limit of usability, but it still did not leave a cloud of smoke, or oil up the plugs.
