I have a 2001 Rio and one of the back seat belts is jammed.
Does anyone know how to release it. I think that the belt itself is twisted inside and part of the problem. It will not release and I cannot see how to even get in there.
Thanks in advance.

I doubt after 5 years he probably could care less about his seat belt.

Sorry, don't know what to tell you about your belt other than a repair shop or body shop.

Note sig line!

Hi, were you able to fix your problem on your seat belt? I am also wondering what is the answer to this problem because my mom has also experienced a jammed seat belt but we could not figure out how to fix it.
Welcome to the KIA forums . If the seatbelt is not twisted and is jamming in the retractor reel itself you can usually get them to release if you unfasten the retractor from the body and try moving the retractor to a different angle in your hand while pulling out on the belt. You may have to fiddle a bit. If you have ever opened up a belt you will see that what stops the belt is a steel ball mechanism and sometimes it gets into a position where it jams. Usually if you move the retractor to a slightly different angle to it's normal position while pulling slowly on the belt it will release. I have actually had belt mechanisms fully apart to unjam but I wouldn't recommend it because if you remove the cover on the wrong side the coiled spring can come out, and it is not easy to rewind , believe me, I have had to do it on an older car I had because I couldn't get a replacement belt [not fun at all].
