Hi, very happily I´ve brought a Kia Pregio 2.5 over from Holland to Spain with the intention of importing it. But, the required homologation code (contraseña de homologacion) does not appear anywhere! Can anyone please help with providing the code. I´m really stuck! Thanks in advance.

Hi, yeah thanks. That only gives the structure of the code. I need the actual homologation code for the specific vehicle. Oddly enough it does not appear in the papers nor on the engine/car. The official KIA dealer is supposed to give me the certicifate of compliance but can´t seem to get it together. KIA Netherlands can´t provide either so it´s now in the hands of KIA Korea. I.m stuck with a fantastic van which I can´t drive legally because of paperwork !

Sorry that info didn't help. From what I found after posting, it seems the vehicle needs to be (certified) by an engineer to obtain the homologation code...

Hopefully these links may be more helpful:

In short, I would go to your local ITV test centre and ask them specifically how to get the vehicle certified, in Spain.

I would also consider contacting your Embassy: they are there to help, someone on staff must have gone through the same process / be familiar with the procedure or process to obtain the necessary certification.

Thanks for all your time and effort Gottacruise, I have been to the ITV where it´s been explained to me. A technical engineer can only draw up the neccessary document after he/she receives the homologation code so that´s why I need it first but can´t get it at the moment.

Funny thing of it all is that according to EU regulations the homologation docs are not needed anymore! Problem is that the Spanish haven´t adjusted their legislation !

Greetings PregioJur,

That's a lousy deal, being stuck like that. Maybe try visiting the local Kia Dealer in your area, hopefully they can provide some feedback and/or another resource for a "Plan B", ie: an auto importer resource you can contact that has done the process previously.

Keep us posted, ok? Myself and others here would like to know how you make out with this.

Regards,
