:confused:I have a 2011 Sorento with a 1 1/4" hitch receiver. I just purchased a Swagman towing hitch mounted bike rack with the intention of putting my 4 bikes in between the car and the tent trailer. I thought I could just get a 1 1/4" to 2" adapter, however, you are NOT allowed to use those for towing. So now I'm looking at a new hitch. My concern is that the extension on this bike rack will cause problems: the car may drop too low, there will be too much stress on the frame...Does anyone have any experience with this type of bike carrier and a trailer? My trailer is small and light (I can push it) so I'm not too concerned about going over the tongue weight. I've looked at the other forums and know that I *can* change out the hitch for the Class III, I just don't want to do it if the whole assembly won't work.

Why can you not use them to tow? They don't increase your overall class rating/tow limits, but I have the Curt one and it's beefier than the Class II hitch.
