Help Removing Horn Relay...

2786 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Mitolo
Just wondering if anyone has some tips on removing the horn relay on a US model Kia Sportage (1997).

I can reach up in there and feel the relay clicking when the horn is activated of course I can't figure out how to actually get to the relay without a near complete dash teardown.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

anyone with a shop manual mind looking into this for me?

please :)
The shop manual unfortunately does not describe on HOW to remove the relay.

I've never looked up there but I would suspect there is some sort of clip that holds it into place. See if you can get a spot light in there and look carefully. There might be a steel clip across the relay. If there is you should be able to push it to one side and pull the relay.

 The are four screws under the steering wheel " The panel under the steering wheel" Take out the dressing clips that hide the screws and remove the 2 screws on top then the 2 on the bottom, remove that panel and bingo there are your relays. Take the relay out and remove the cover and clean the contacts and you should be good to go....... ;) No need to buy new relays as I have done this more than once and they all still work like new. :D
