I'm new to this & I don't know if this has been covered but I need serious fast help if possible.

I have a 2001 Kia Sportage. When I bought it, I had to replace the brakes. I took to mechanic to check out for me (woman here :D) and the only problem was I need work on my 4x4 the hub or something. Everything was fine until recently.

Was driving on freeway, slowed to 60 for traffic, all of a sudden i can't hold it at 60. Losing speed, reving engine. When I apply brake exiting it is super stiff and barely moves. Get off freeway front tire is smoking BAD! Hubby comes to rescue and now all is well and he drives it home fine. He looked at it and for some reason the brakes are sticking while I'm driving.

I was hoping someone can give me a simple straight forward list of things this could be. I don't mean to be pushy but I really need my car :( and hubby doesn't have time right now to research. And the only thing I know how to do is check my oil!

Please, any help would be so appreciated!

Thanx!

Sounds like you need a front caliper, new pads and probably a new rotor..
The caliper was probably stuck on hard and the pads were dragging on the rotor.
If your husband does not have time then you need to find a good brake specialist.
We do not have a crystal ball so we really can't provide exact information on what failed.
