1) today i was driving when i heard a clunk sound when i looked under my car i noticed something dragging on the rear passenger side next to the wheel well. I think i have an idea what it is since its a cylinder with a slim connector and looks like it might be an axle but i'm uncertain and need to know what its called so i can find out how much it costs to replace.

2) also my rear defroster isn't working and think it might be an electrical issue

please help

You can be pretty sure that it's not an axle. Could be a shock-absorber.

Luckily we figured it out, we used the jack to lift the car up and remove the hanging piece which turned out to be the fuel vapor canister..... Atleast its not an emergenc but still rather annoying, can't beleive that the bracket rusted completely.

Fuel system parts can rust because the presence of fuel can keep the surfaces clean and subject to corrosion.
