I love our Carens II CRDi but there are a few bits of careless design. I was trying to change the headlight bulbs tonight and the passenger side one (right hand drive) is totally blocked by the battery.

I suspect because it is a diesel it has a bigger battery than they expected to fit so the clearance is not there.

You need to loosen the battery fixing with a 12mm socket and try to lean the battery over to be able to unscrew the cap and access the bulb.

Our carens is blue and looks great with its new blue tint xenon bulbs.

Hi there,
The way to change the bulbs is to undo the 3 hex bolts securing the headlamp and then remove the whole unit. Replacement of the bulb is then very easy!!
As a matter of interest, I have replaced the bulbs with xenon ones which are much brighter. I have also replaced the sidelight bulbs with LEDs.
Cheers
