Hard brakes pedal

Hey,
I have a 2017 Kia Cerato hatchback. Today while I was driving the brake pedal got hard and no brakes was applied to the car. I released the brake and mashed again and same thing. On the third attempt the pedal got back to normal and the brake continued working fine. 15 mins after the same thing happened.
This happened on a straight road with no gravel or loose dirt.

I checked the booster vacuum line and there was no leaks or blockage. The check valve allowed air to pass in one direction and not the other
Also the fluid was half of reservoir. The front pads looked ok but the back pads looked a little low

Any suggestions

what come to mind is maybe you might want to replace the fluid just in case, replace the pads and maybe check out if there is a caliper problem.

Ok changed the fluid
Changed the pads and calipers are moving freely
After bleeding the brakes and carrying the car for a drive, I experienced the problem once and did not get the problem on my second drive.
Will monitor.
Also when hashing the brakes I am hearing a air noise (whooooosssssssssssssow) coming from the engine bay.

That must be a problem with the brake booster - make sure that the check valve is working well all the time.
I removed the line and blew air through hose with my mouth. Air passes one way and not the other. Will need to check if the hose is cracked. I forgot to check this

Although not common, the booster diaphragm can go bad causing similar issues as you describe. But, if the diaphragm fails, most likely it will not be intermittent, again as you describe. Might also be something in the ABS / Traction Control system going haywire. Any codes or CEL?
No check engine light
Or anything
Is it possible to get codes or CEL without engine check light.
Drove the car yesterday for 50mins to work and 50 mins back did not get problem.
Drove the car today for 1hr and 30mins and got the problem once around 1hr and 10mins while driving back home got it once around the same 1hr and 10 mins.
Also I now notice that when the pedal is hard the ABS is active and after 2 to 3 mashes the brakes returned like normal.
I am really confused of what is happening now.
Any suggestions?
Keep it to this thread and no more thread necro's.

Did you forget this again?
No this was done and no leaks were seen.
Tried it by feel and also in a tub of water

I can feel the ABS being applied to the wheel but the light on the dash is not coming on
Sounds like a vacuum leak probably from the brake booster back to the engine's throttle body... As these cars get older the hoses can get loose when they heat up and allow poor vacuum.. The brakes will feel like they are when the engine has been off and the vacuum in the brake booster has bled off... You may also have a bad brake booster (big round disk mounted to firewall) Have a known good mechanic check the brake system...
