Finally got my Sephia started with a direct jump from the battery to the starter solenoid; and yes the ground from the battery to the block was corroded at the block, thanx for the advice. Now for the next problem. The reason the car wouldn't turn over is because the auto transmission is stuck in drive. Regardless of the position of the gear shift selector the car remains in drive, the only way to get it started is to jump the solenoid. The gear shift selector moves freely / normally ( it had been very stiff ). Without removing the transmission is there a way to determine if this is a broken cable / linkage problem or if it is internal to the trans?
