When I bought my runnout 2006 Sorento the steering did not want to self centre when for instance comming out of a roundabout...quited dangerous you had to wind it back.....I dropped the tyre pressures to 30 psi and all was well. I thought I would wait until it had done a few miles and keep my eye on the tyre wear. After 5000 miles the tyres looked odd ...drivers side worn on inside and passenger side worn on the outside and scrubbing. Now thats not tracking which is wear on both inside or outside edges. Investigation showed ( I had a look !!) that the front passenger side lower front wishbone articulation bolt was set different to the other 3. (see photo) Three had the hole in the washer at the top ( as photo) and the odd one had it rotated 45 deg to the right so the king pin allignment was out. Out with the spanners..god is that [email protected]@ker tight and re aligned it as in photo. Now the bush moved out about 1/4 in (the bolt is an eccentric ) so the wheel also moved back about the same amount so you can see this was serious mis alignment. That threw the tracking out and I can tell you that 1/2 a turn on each side is a change in tracking of 1/8 inch.
There was also some funny wear on the opposite corner rear.
So now all fixed , tyres rotated, spare on front to watch for wear and the tyre pressures at 32 psi as the ride is hard at 35 psi. Hope that helps someone. Sorry about the old imperial measurements but we must make it american friendly. Now lets see if I can get a photo on ...

no unlike the americans we brits dont run to the dealer on the first signs of trouble we fix it the land Rover way.....we apply brains and spanners and big hammers. Thats why 80% of all land rovers ever made are still on the road..... I apply that technology to my KIA

Well, I wouldn't go to the dealer to get the alignment done either! But, I do go to a 4x4 specialist. Sories seem to be prone to loosing tracking and camber - the dealers even send the new ones out misaligned judging by tyre wear problems reported .......... Anyway, if you don't get the angles properly adjusted you will only end up with more tyre wear. Why guess when it can be done for a relatively small cost?

and if you didn't notice, I am a Brit (albeit with a Canadian passport too) - so I will presume you meant 'we Brits in Australia' - and we all know how that started :p

Yeah, and the other 20% actually made it home! :D

Land Rovers have the WORST reliability ratings of ANY vehicle car or truck according to "Consumer Reports" magazine.
For the $$$ they cost they should be near the top of the reliability list not the bottom!

Had to give you some chit for your arrogant knock on Americans "mate" :D

BTW...the FRONT tires on my 2007 Sorento are "feathering" also......dealer says they re-aligned the front end but they're STILL feathering! Along with the VERY SLOW shifting auto trans and Manual Sport Shifter that takes two or three slaps to shift (because the tranny shifts so slow the RPM's "hang" there) and A/C unit that runs when it wants to I think I'll be claiming a "Lemon Law" soon...............as you can guess I'm not too happy with my New Sorento....so far I love the 262hp V-6 though!

Perhaps you did not read the original carefully enough ...feathering of the tyres , both on the outer or both on the inner is a tracking issue ..what I had was one wearing on the outside edge and the other on the inside edge.Not the same thing you cannot adjust tracking individually for each side.
The point of the original post was to alert people with funny tyre wear to check the alignment ,visuslly of the marks on the wish bone bolts so they could then point this out to there dealers if they were mis aligned. ( see photo in original post)

Whilst you stick with GW Bush and feet and inches you will always be a laughing stock !!!! Dont I remember a mars proble where the computer was programmed in ft and inches and the sensors in metres ... it crashed !!!
It's probably a good job you are clever enough not to need any help or advice from this forum in future.
